Not Property

So. The news when last we spoke was that I didn't have to vacate my lovely home. Well. Three cheers for realestate arseholes, oops I mean, agents! Apparently she hadn't checked with the landlord before offering us a new lease, and when she checked, the landlord said no. Grr. To top it all off, I found this out the day after I had acquired a new housemate. Double grr.

Anyway, the realestate agent is _trying_ to look after us, so hopefully we'll find something soon. Getting information out of her is like getting blood out of a stone, though. And at least I now have someone to move out with, so I'm not on my own. My biggest drama is moving the piano, but whatever happens I think I'll come out of this ordeal relatively unscathed.

In other news, work dramas have finally somewhat sorted themselves.

Friday night we went out on the town, first to a colleague's son's 18th, then a cocktail party, then the Base (the only night club in town - and a pretty seedy one at that). It was great fun. At te cocktail party we started playing cards cs there were only four of us. But when some others turned up, we ran around and hid the cards so that we wouldn't taint our reputation as the coolest cats in town (sorry Wamut, your crazy cardplaying antics have been outed via blog!). We carved up the dancefloor at the Base till 4am then walked home.

Saturday was a bit of a fizzer, with the last Tick Market of the season being washed out. Then today my housemate had her "Sii Yoooo" party at the pool, cos she is moving to Darwin next week. We spent most of the time slipping and sliding over the inflatable 'Commando' course. Then the rain poured down and we sat under cover eating sausages and cooing over babies.

No other news really. The subtle admirer has made no further moves, nor has the stalker. So this is me in a nutshell:

Romance: nil
Home: soon to be nil
Work: was looking like nil, but prospects are much better now.

(no, wait, this is me in a nutshell: "help I'm in a nutshell!")

I've been on a bit of a whingey platform what with all this upheaval, I promise I'll have more interesting things to say when the house stuff is settled.

Well, farewell for now. Please comment. Kel, your updates and conversation have been awesome. Hope you are all well.

xx

P.S. Enjoy

Hey Hoochy Dee,

It's good to hear the crises are settling down a little, these things often seem to come in waves - just when crappy events seem to be at their peak in life, they slowly subside all together. Hang on, I'm not too sure that is such a great metaphor...well, I hope you get the idea. I used up all my brain power on my last assignment.
Anyways, if my metaphor/philosophy is right, then a new rental place will turn up and then romancw will appear. Maybe. Swings and roundabouts, my dear, swings and roundabouts.
(I'm doing my best to leave you a nice long comment, as per your request :)

Sausage and baby party sounded fun (albeit a strange combination). I went to a Cup Day party with my sister on Sunday, was a good night. The parental units have been off in the Grampians for the last 4 days and I'm sluggishly slugging around the house, wondering what else I should clear up before they get back.

Abi gave me a fright by almost choking herself to death last night on a (too) big chunk of meat. Fortunately, she's ok but talk about having eyes bigger than ones windpipe. I doubt she'll learn from the experience, sweet, greedy girl that she is.

Other than that, I'm doing some serious clearing out, trying to get in better shape and pre-emptively planning for next year. I kind of like being busy with stuff like this though; I get a contented feeling when my stuff is organised just so.
I have a huge list of books I want to read over the break too - if you'd like any suggestions, let me know. I'm going to hear a talk by Germaine Greer on Austen later this month - I'm quite excited about it :D

Am looking forward to seeing you in December too. I passed your blog address onto Lou as well - hope you don't mind.

Cheers,
N.

Hey Hooch!

What tumultuous times - am glad to hear there's been some fun interspersed as well.

Looking forward to seeing you soon (next week maybe? On my way through to Ngukurr), and all the best with housing arrangements. I'm sure Catherine is giving you much 'all will work out' support. Which at least, is probably more than Sandy is doing for you!

Hey Hooch,
*poke*
Am only now after 3 months in a decent enough cafe to read your blog. Missing you bloody heaps and heaps.
Do you have a house now? What is the Taj?
Who is bulanjdjan? Wamut? or Neckbeard?
On holidays and going to Togo and Benin... never heard of them? Well they are to the East of Ghana. Togo is like not even 150km wide. I just wanna go and cross 3 countries in a day. Such a strange concept for an Aussie. My next trip will be to Ouagadougou and Timbuktu!
You didn't shave off your dreads! How's that in the weather?
Glad work is well. Maggie is now on facebook! I know you didn't know her but that's kind of a cool thing.
Lots of love

Gee dude - time for more of Katherine antics! I know you are busy but we need our on-the-ground reporting. How was the feeling yesterday following the apology from the Commonwealth?
